Our Mission

Led by the Holy Spirit and living in God’s grace, Normandale Lutheran Church is a community proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ through love, learning, worship, and service.

There is no place more welcoming than Normandale. No matter how disconnected I have felt, either pre- or post-COVID, the Normandale Lutheran staff and its members have been there to help me center myself. Normandale is where I can replant my roots and branch out to the community.

Our Welcoming Statement

We affirm that all people are created in the image of God, and as beloved children of God, all are worthy of God’s love and grace. We welcome all people into full participation in the life and ministries of Normandale Lutheran Church.

We celebrate that there are differences among us, and believe that we can love one another, even though we may not think alike. We proclaim this statement of welcome to all who have known the pain of exclusion or discrimination in the church and society.

Normandale Lutheran Church is committed to a ministry of reconciliation. We welcome and affirm our human family’s diversity of sexual orientation, gender identity, race, ethnicity, age, faith history, socioeconomic status, physical and mental ability. We embrace this diversity as a gift from God, and invite all into a faithful journey toward greater love, understanding, and reconciliation.

For me, walking into Normandale Lutheran Church is like coming home to a warm embrace. I can exhale deeply when I walk in the door, comforted with the knowledge that I am loved and understood, and that I belong just as I am. Whatever baggage I bring with me feels lighter, shared by my Normandale Lutheran family, and lessened by God's love. And I feel it every single time, whether in the physical space or when gathered with our faith community.

Our History

Normandale Lutheran Church is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and a Reconciling in Christ (RIC) congregation.

Our congregation was founded in 1950 and we continue to adapt and grow in service to local and global communities. Over the years relevant, faith-filled sermons have come together in worship with prayer and joyful music. Normandale is a place where all are welcome as equal members of God’s loving family.

“It is because of God’s loving kindness that we are not consumed, God’s mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning.” – Lamentations 3:22
