Children’s Ministries

Young ones are a critical part of our congregational life. Their sense of wonder is a gift to us all. We believe families are the most important influence in a child’s faith development, so we partner with you to help your children discover God’s love and to live their developing faith in everyday life.

Sunday School

Age 3 – Grade 4
Sundays, starting September 18
10:40-11:30 am

Sunday School classes meet in age-appropriate large groups for musical instruction with a lead music teacher. Each grade level will also have small group teachers to facilitate games, discussion, and hands-on projects. Throughout the year, Sunday School children will learn songs during music class and will be invited to share this music during Sunday worship services.

Are you interested in teaching Sunday School? A variety of people are needed to make our faith formation ministries a success. Consider how you might  be a good fit for one of our Sunday School volunteering needs.

Faith Markers

Age 3 – Grade 4

Milestones in a child’s life, Faith Markers help connect families to each other and to the congregation. As a beautiful coincidence, these opportunities also strengthen your family’s relationship with God.

*Faith markers, a part of the Sunday School curriculum, are on hold during the pandemic.

First Communion

Grades 3-5

We extend a special invitation for communion instruction for families with children in grades 3-5, but also welcome instruction for younger children and their families. Whether this is your child’s first communion or your child has communed for many years, this instruction is a time to find deep connection in this sacrament of the Lutheran church.

February 5th, 2023: First Communion Recognition in 9:30 am worship with Children and Families

It's a really fun and welcoming place. I like the people at Normandale, they make me feel important.

Children’s Choirs

Music is a priority here, and we start building strong voices early! We invite all kindergarten through grade 6 students to participate in our active choir program. It’s one of the reasons we have such a strong adult choir. Celebrations are so much richer and more spirited when children sing!
