Eat, read, and play games

Select Mondays | 5:15 – 8:00 pm

This is a volunteer-based, relationship-building, and literacy program for Normandale Youth (grades 7-12) to engage with elementary-aged students in the Normandale Housing program. The youth eat dinner, play games, build relationships, and help elementary students with reading and homework.

Students will be transported from Normandale Lutheran Church to Hope Academy in the Minneapolis Philips Neighborhood. For everyone’s safety, all Reading Buddies participants are asked to be vaccinated.

Agenda:

• 5:15pm – Gather at Normandale Lutheran Church and carpool with a donated meal to Hope Academy
• 6:00pm – Check-in, dinner, and pair youth with Reading Buddies for homework, then games and fun
• 7:30pm – Carpool back to Normandale Lutheran Church for pickup.

Meals

We still need help with four meals with four meals; all in the spring. Plenty of time to plan! It’s a wonderful opportunity to share the gift of a tasty meal with the kids and families. Feel free to pair up with someone if that is easier.
