January’s Second Wednesday: Giving Up the Keys: How You Can Drive Safer & Longer

Second Wednesday is a monthly opportunity for those over the age of 60 to socially and spiritually connect. Second Wednesday’s occur from September through May between 11:00am and 1:30pm. Attendees are cordially invited to take part in any or all events. A suggested donation of $10.00 per person covers the entire cost.


Schedule of Events:

  • 11:00 am – Coffee, Snack & Fellowship *

  • 11:30 am – Chapel Worship Service

  • 12:00 pm – Light, Delicious Lunch *

  • 12:45 pm – 45-minute Program *

* All events are in the Fireside Room on the 2nd level


Joan is an engaging presenter: amazing, funny, knowledgeable and informative. She offers prevention ideas on how to continue being a safe driver. After retiring, she continued teaching and doing special projects for the state Departments of Health and Transportation. She currently is working on the 6th year of a Dept of Transportation grant to increase older driver safety in Minnesota. She has presented information about what is being done in-state and nationwide as well as local conferences. Joan is the geriatric section editor of the Journal of Emergency Nursing and has authored numerous articles including “Building a Campaign to Increase Older Driver Safety.”
