Community Fest
We are hosting a free, community-wide, all-ages festival on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. to commemorate 75 years of mission and service.
Community Fest will feature a picnic dinner created by chef Ian Gray, a bowl painting activity to support Crosstown Meals on Wheels’ Empty Bowls fundraiser that is scheduled for November 2nd, and live music.

Three-time Regional Emmy Award-winning actor, vocalist, arts educator, author, and community organizer T. Mychael Rambo will emcee.
Bands at the event include The Floras, a rockabilly / Gospel duo, The Havana Quartet, Cuban music and dance and ABBAsolutelyFAB, an Abba tribute band.

The Floras are a husband & wife singing duo with decades of performing experience. Mark and Lisa met in Clark, SD in 1989 and Mark knew this certain farmer’s daughter was meant to be his beloved. They’ve partnered in life and music, marrying in 1996 and raising two daughters.
The constant call of 50’s music and country gospel has brought them into a rewarding life of singing for a living. The Floras have performed at many state fairs, county fairs, theaters, churches, city events, private parties and assisted/senior living centers. They enjoy it all. In fact, their motto is “We sing for people.”

The Havana Quartet is a performing group that is a part of programming created and provided by CAYO, a nonprofit organization that supports, educates, and empowers students, teachers, and audiences in the US and Cuba through music. Transforming lives through cultural, musical, and personal exchange with the Cuban people.

ABBAsolutelyFAB, an all-star lineup of stellar Twin Cities and British musicians performing the songs of pop/disco supergroup, ABBA! The group consistently draws sold-out audiences at theaters, clubs, and parks all over the state. Mamma Mia, you don’t want to miss out on the fun! Take a Chance and join us! It’s your turn to be a Dancing Queen!

Beer from Fulton Brewery will be available for sale to guests ages 21+ (IDs will be checked) and Kona Ice will offer shaved ice treats for sale.
“Normandale has been a part of this community for 75 years and we want to celebrate with all people, whether they are members of the church or not,” said Kristi Shepherd, organizer of Community Fest.“This is our opportunity to say ‘thank you’ and to let our neighbors know that we are here to engage with the community and establish ourselves as a true neighbor, here to help and participate with community members on community issues and initiatives.”
.
Community Fest will be held rain or shine in the main west parking lot of Normandale. Can’t wait to see you there!
