Welcome to the Cherub Choir Homepage!
Cherub Choir is meant for any child in Kindergarten to 2nd grade. There is no requirement of musical background to join. Cherub Choir meets weekly on Wednesday evenings from 5:00-5:45 pm and sings once a month in Sunday morning Worship. The goal of Cherub Choir is that every child learns musical skills, feels confident in their ability to perform worship anthems, knows that they are loved, and feels welcome. Cherub Choir is directed by Lily Askegaard, our Director all Children’s Ministry & Music. If you have any questions, please contact Lily at Laskegaard@normluth.org or 952.977.9350. - Wednesday, October 30 – No rehearsal: Trunk-or-Treat Family Event 6-8 pm in the parking lot. Wear your Halloween costume!
- Friday, November 1 – Optional All Saints Family Bonfire Event in Trinity Commons, 6-8 pm
- Wednesday, November 6 – No rehearsal: Prayers for Peace Vespers Worship, 6:30 pm
- Wednesday, November 13 – Regular Cherub Choir Rehearsal 5-5:45 pm
- Wednesday, November 20 – Regular Cherub Choir Rehearsal 5-5:45 pm
- Sunday, November 24 – Sing in 9:30 am worship. Arrive by 9 am to warm up and put on robes!
- After worship: Christmas Program Rehearsal 10:40 – 11:30 am in the Chapel
- Wednesday, November 27 – No rehearsal – Thanksgiving Break!
- Wednesday, December 4 – Christmas Program Dress Rehearsal 5:00-6:30 pm. After, Optional Advent Worship #1 at 6:30 pm.
- Sunday, December 8 – Sing in Christmas Program Performance in 9:30 am worship. Arrive by 8:45 am for costumes and warm up!
- Afterwards, join us for a Christmas Program Cookie Reception from 10:30 – 11:00 am!
- Wednesday, December 11 – Regular Cherub Choir Rehearsal 5-5:45 pm
- Wednesday, December 18 – Regular Cherub Choir Rehearsal 5-5:45 pm
- Tuesday, December 24 – Sing in Christmas Eve Worship. Arrive by 3:00 pm. Service at 3:30 pm
- Wednesday, December 25 – No Rehearsal: Merry Christmas!
Meet your Cherub Choir Director & Accompanist!
Lily Askegaard - Director
Lily Askegaard is the Director of Cherub Choir, Children’s Choir, and Children’s Ministry at Normandale Lutheran Church. She graduated from St. Olaf college and has a big passion for teaching music. Lily has worked at Normandale Lutheran Church on the CYF Team since 2020. When not making music, Lily loves to spend time outside- canoeing, camping, hiking, pickelballing, reading, walking the dog, sunset gazing, etc!
Angela Anderson - Accompanist
Angela Anderson is the Accompanist for both Cherub Choir and Children’s Choir. Angela has been the accompanist for Children’s Choirs at Normandale Lutheran Church for many years. She also teaches music to Pre-School students at the Normandale Pre-School! Fun fact: Angela also plays the oboe. When not making music, Angela loves to spend time with her two kids.
